TXV Brazing Tips And Liquid Line Filter Driers
When brazing a TXV (thermostatic expansion valve) it must be done correctly. We also discuss liquid line filter driers briefly with Jamie Kitchen from Danfoss. The TXV brazing tips included in this video include the following:
1. Getting the heat on and off quick
2. Pointing the torch away from the valve
3. Protecting the valve from heat with heat absorbing putty (WetRag Putty)
4. Ensuring there is good silfos penetration and a potential shoulder
5. Nitrogen brazing
In this video we are using the Ambro Controls Oxyset with Precision Torch Tip, which allows technicians to carry a light weight tool and offers easier access into smaller cabinets due to its size.

Evaporator Delta T vs Evaporator Temperature Difference
Переглядів 2 тис.Місяць тому
Evaporator Delta T and Evaporator Temperature Difference are different. Some HVAC technicians, helpers, and apprentices can get them confused. Both readings are very important in HVAC troubleshooting and require knowledge of how to attain them. Evaporator Delta T is the measurement of two points of the same medium, like air or water. Discover The Ultimate Media Air Filter To Stop Particulate Bypass And Eliminate Pressure Drop!
Переглядів 7435 місяців тому
An air filter and filter cabinet combo that has the potential for particulate bypass will create issues within an HVAC system. For instance, any dirt/debris that is not captured can get caught on the secondary heat exchanger of a high efficiency furnace and/or evaporator coil of an air conditioning system. This can plug the surface and also cause condensate management issues. Choosing a deep pl...

How Does Flame Rectification Work On A Heating Season
Переглядів 1,8 тис.5 місяців тому
Flame rectification is the process of changing an AC signal to a DC signal. During flame rectification, the ignition control will send an AC signal in the range of 90v to 120v, from the flame sense terminal. That signal is sent down the flame sensor wire and through the flame sensor, it is rectified using the flame as part of the circuit and allowing the signal to come in contact with ground. A...
Carrier Rooftop Gas Valve Replacement After Going Off On High Limit

Last winter this Carrier rooftop unit was going off on high limit. There was a problem with the gas valve in high fire and there was also a problem with the bypass damper on this zoned system. The gas valve pressure would creep up slowly over time from 3.5" wc to almost 4" wc within a few minutes of operation. For this reason, it had to left in low fire. The bypass damper was stuck in a closed ...

How To Install A Drain Pan Heater On A Cold Weather Heat Pump
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
Heat pumps accumulate ice/frost in the heating cycle on the outdoor unit. During the defrost cycle, the ice/frost will melt and water will drain out the bottom. In cold weather applications, you may need a pan heater so the water does not re-freeze into ice. Ice accumulation at the bottom of the outdoor pan can cause issues with fan obstruction and potentially cause coil damage if the ice is al...

I stared my hvac business in Canada 12 years ago. I’ve always just wanted a balanced work life. I knew very little about business and hard to learn thru a lot of bumps. I was tired of working for somebody, counting on the weather to keep us busy. It’s so hard to get ahead in business, especially with the crazy economy. Here it’s hard to sell a 3 ton a/c system for 5000$. I see guys in the states that wouldn’t touch it for less than 10-15k. Business stresses me out. I’m tired of the rollercoaster and catch up game that always seems to be going on. Sometimes I wish I never got into this. There is a few perks for sure , but sometimes I just wish I stayed working for the man

Always ask if the nitrogen cylinder has been used for clean nitrogen only. Sometimes the cylinder was used for some other gas and it just gets repainted. If it has had some other gas in it you now have dirty nitrogen and you can get high levels of copper oxide inside even though it's clean gas. If possible get only medical grade nitrogen, the sales person will probably give you a strange look but tell them that is what you want. And even with clean and pure nitrogen you will get some copper oxide build up.

The 40 F minus 75 F in my opinion . The 40 F . is just the temperature at what the refrigerant begins to boil with out gaining any heat just as soon passed through the metering device. The more standard temperature measurements is Delta T . Temperature of the air coming in the evaporator and temperature coming out of the evaporator. The other temperature that is importance is S.H that is the gain of heat in the refrigerant after it saturated or is changing state from liquid to vapor. But this is a different way to see the temperature difference Thanks

What's an acceptable pressure check drop in PSI over 10 or 20 min. 1 or 2 psi. Is there a few psi range that temperature of the gas can fluctuate. Depending on the bottle temp vs system temp. I'm praying you tell me the good news. I let the gas into the system. It held 250 micron vac for 15 min no problem. I had to fiddle with the setup a bit. Most of these inverter systems have 3/8 ports and i didn't have 3/8 to 3/8 hoses or enough adapters. And cheap core removal tools. One of them leaked. one didn't. And some don't grab the core. Check that too

Surf bro channel highlighted the white textured insulation falls apart and corrodes line sets. I confirm that with a neighbors unit, a few years old. It looks like someone hit it with a torch and it's just gone in many spots. UV eats is. And it corroding the set quite bad. Those guys love the k-flex. I'd consider buying that stuff for sure. I premade set has jumbo neoprene style and it tears, but not as bad as i thought. But it definitely doesn't glide at all. And will help get it stuck in a whole and bunch up.

3/4 by hand kinks fast, especially if you go fast and go against the previous coiled up direction. Get a good bender. My cheap one on 90's looks funny, but still acceptable. Maybe it's the copper producer influencing the bend shape/tension. The bender is pretty nice in function, it's like all the other ratchet ones.
